Teeth whitening is a very popular cosmetic treatment. Many patients have healthy, nice-looking teeth, but staining can get in the way of achieving a truly dazzling smile.
As we consume food and beverages throughout our lives, staining occurs. This is completely natural. It’s also completely natural to want to remove those stains. At Porter Dental Health Clinic, we offer a couple of teeth whitening options, including take-home kits and in-office whitening with GLO Science Professional.
How does teeth whitening work?
Teeth whitening is a tried-and-true procedure that has benefited many patients.
The whitening agents used in whitening products bypass your tooth enamel and target the discolored molecules inside of your tooth. These molecules from the whitening agent interact with your tooth’s molecules. The result is that the bonds holding the discolored molecules together are broken apart, leaving you with whiter teeth.
Take-Home Whitening Kits
Sometimes you need the convenience of doing things at home. We understand. Our office has take-home whitening kits designed for you to use on your own time. You put a small ring of the whitening gel on the inside rim of the mouthpiece. Then you wear the mouthpiece for a specified period of time.
Take-home whitening kits are great for patients who lead busy lives and might not have the time to come in for an in-office whitening. Be aware that take-home kits usually work much more slowly than professional whitening.
